Frequently Asked Questions

The device
Is Sibionics GS1 registered in Egypt?
Yes. Sibionics GS1 is CE-certified and registered with the Egyptian Drug Authority under registration number (awaiting confirmation).
How accurate is the Sibionics GS1?
The GS1 has a MARD (Mean Absolute Relative Difference) of 8.83% in adults and 8.7% in children aged 3–17. MARD is the standard accuracy metric for continuous glucose monitors; under 10% is considered clinical-grade.
How long does a sensor last?
14 days of continuous wear. After that, peel it off and apply a new one.
Is it waterproof?
Yes. IP28 rated — safe to 1 meter of water for 1 hour. You can shower, bathe, and swim with it. Do not go deeper than 1 meter or stay submerged longer than 1 hour.
Does it hurt when I put it on?
Most users describe application as a brief tap, not a pinprick. A tiny filament sits under the skin — thinner than a typical injection needle. Some users feel nothing. A few feel a pinch that fades within seconds.
Safety & medical use
Is it safe for children?
Yes. CE-approved for patients aged 3 and older. The accuracy in children (8.7% MARD) is on par with leading adult-approved devices.
Do I still need to prick my finger sometimes?
Occasionally. A fingerstick remains the best way to verify when: (a) your glucose readings don’t match how you feel, (b) you suspect hypoglycemia, or (c) you’re about to make an important therapy decision.
Can I use it alongside insulin pumps?
Yes. Sibionics integrates with several major insulin pump apps via data export.
What if I’m pregnant?
CGM is widely used in gestational diabetes management. Consult your obstetrician before starting.
