Why this matters for parents
Type 1 diabetes in a young child is an exhausting diagnosis for the whole family. The usual 4-to-8 daily finger pricks are a battle — with a toddler, they can become traumatic. Sibionics eliminates the pricks and replaces them with 288 painless readings a day, streamed to your phone. You can check your child’s glucose while they sleep, at school, in the car, without waking them or interrupting play.
And unlike some competitors, the GS1 is certified for children from age 3, not 4. That one year matters.
Addressing common parent concerns
Is the sensor safe for my child’s skin?
The adhesive is medical-grade and hypoallergenic. If your child has sensitive skin, we recommend applying a thin layer of skin barrier film (we can advise on products). Skin irritation occurs in a small percentage of users and is usually mild.
Can my child wear it at school or during sports?
Yes. The sensor is worn on the back of the upper arm and sits flush against the skin — most kids forget it’s there. It’s waterproof for swim class and sturdy for football, gymnastics, and rough play. Glucose data continues streaming to your phone (with parental access).
What if my child’s levels drop overnight?
Set a low-glucose alert in the app. You’ll be woken by the alarm on your phone — even if the phone is in Do Not Disturb — so you can intervene before hypoglycemia becomes severe.
